Racial Life Expectancy Gap

A new Canadian study has found that the difference in life expectancy between blacks and whites in the US is at a historical low, while the overall life expectancy among both races and genders has also gone up. A white male now has a life expectancy of 76.2 years, up from 75.3 years, while black men live an average of 70.8 years, up from 68.8 years. White women have a life expectancy of 81.2 years (up from 80.3) and black women one of 77.5 years (up from 75.7). The racial gap is believed to be caused by a variety of factors and socioeconomic disparities.
