The Times They are a Changin’

Here are some big updates for the Nation that will happen over the next 3 months.

1.  I will not be making StuffPhilLikes videos after this month.

StuffPhilLikes has been an experiment with playlists from its creation with a predetermined 3 month life.  We wanted to play with viewing habits, playlists, and figure out what you guys liked to watch.  Its been a very fun experience and will most likely be reborn as a weekly segment on “The Secret Project”.

2.  LTA and Movie Club will no longer exist by the end of the month.

It has been an awesome year watching movies and tv shows together but I feel like its finally time to close this down.  Every one and there brother has a movie club now and I know you guys can find a place that you’ll love or figure out how to do it yourselves.  I need to refocus my time and staff on things that make the most sense for our future.  I’m giving you this heads up so you can figure out where you want to take refuge.  Thank you for the awesome experience :)

3.  The Next Thing

I’ve realized over the past few months that I need to refocus and organize my life.  What do I want to do?  What am I good at?  What is my five year plan?  And that is why I’m cleaning out our smaller ventures/channels.  Keeping them alive for the sake of keeping them alive is silly.  I love and care about news, so thats what I am going to focus on.  I’ll release more on this when we get closer to launching it.

Main Point

I love yo faces Nation.  We’ve gone through a ton of changes and experiments together and its been a blast.  2012 is going to be an interesting and exciting year for us.  Thank you for everything and enjoy the ride.

This video hurts my soul.  There is a difference between “a spanking” and outright beating a child.  I’ve never made a video about this, but watching this brings back a lot of hatred of my childhood.  Judge William Adams needs to go to jail for this sort of child abuse that was a common occurrence according to his daughter.

The same thing would happen to me as a child.  My parents were divorced and my mom had massive anger problems.  She always knew I loved my dad more and it infuriated her.  One time in particular I got “caught” talking to my dad on the phone even though my mom had banned me from speaking with him.  She was furious.  She whipped off her belt and just went to town.  Legs, arm, neck, and back (Much like Judge Adams).  Its one of the reasons I find it hard to love her.  But the one silver lining that I take away from it is I will never beat my child.  I will never be any of the terrible things my mom was.  I’ve never shared that before.

It was just over two centuries ago that the global population was 1 billion — in 1804. But better medicine and improved agriculture resulted in higher life expectancy for children, dramatically increasing the world population, especially in the West.

As higher standards of living and better health care are reaching more parts of the world, the rates of fertility — and population growth — have started to slow down, though the population will continue to grow for the foreseeable future.

U.N. forecasts suggest the world population could hit a peak of 10.1 billion by 2100 before beginning to decline. But exact numbers are hard to come by — just small variations in fertility rates could mean a population of 15 billion by the end of the century.

Sitting in Heathrow airport waiting for our flight back home. Looking at the footage from yesterday’s DeFranco Does Dublin event slash QnA thingy. Was fucking amazing.
